Hi, I'm hunting for the small sedan at the moment and found out Hyundai elantra has below function in the climate control system of elantra during the research.

Air Quality System (AQS)

The unique AQS senses the level of exhaust gases of neighboring vehicles and controls inlet of car automatically by switching to recirculation mode.

Do other small sedans(Civic,Lancer,Corolla etc in this class) have this function in their climate control systems?

I thought this kind of function was available only from medium or large size car (well, definitly not in my current car... 7yrs old nissan pulsar :D ) and I can't find any info about this function from other car's website.

Thanks in advance!

I heard that the VW Phaeton (and possibly the Toureg) has this feature.

Here is a website that gives the US patent number of the design.

Maybe someone else can tell us about other applications of this great feature.
When encountering clunkers spewing black smoke, it seems I am always fumbling around for the recirc button. By the time I find it I've already gotten a good whiff that has probably shortened my life significantly.

Bury the fossil fuel dependent engine!
