China's automobile production and sales both shot up 25 percent in the first eight months of the year (January-August 2006). China produced 4.64 million vehicles between January and August, an increase of 25.37 percent. In the first eight months of the year, China produced 3.33 million passenger vehicles and sold 3.23 million units, rising 33 percent and 32 percent, respectively. The production and sale of sedans grew over 40 percent.
