Starting this year.

The name is "Warrior" (勇士)

北京吉普“勇士”开发成功 军用民用两相宜

5月23日,北京吉普汽车有限公司宣布:由该公司自主开发的拥有完全自主知识产权、冠名为“勇士”的0.5吨/0.75吨级战地越野车的设计研制工程已经获得成功,其样车已通过评审,开始转入批量生产前的全面生产准备阶段,计划于明年投产。业内人士评价,这是北京吉普多年来形成的产品自主开发能力的硕果,也是企业综合实力与核心竞争力的一大体现。

北京吉普在第二代军车竞标中胜出

  “勇士”越野车的开发,是21世纪第一个国防军用车种立项启动的项目。与计划经济时代军车的开发研制、定点生产的显著区别是,它是中国人民解放军第一个采用符合市场经济和国际惯例的以竞标方式,通过激烈竞争确定的军车装备采购项目。

  自军队在1999年发出军车项目竞标邀请书后,国内汽车厂家间的竞争十分激烈,共有10家汽车生产企业参与竞标。最终,北京吉普公司凭借着企业的综合实力在第二代军车竞标中胜出。

  2002年9月,军委批准了总装备部在北京吉普汽车有限公司正式启动军用越野车项目的研制工作。至此,继第一代BJ2020系列军车之后,中国人民解放军全新军车项目仍由北京吉普独家定点研制生产。

  “勇士”指导原则“二十年不落后”

  据悉,“勇士”新型越野车按不同轴距有两种车身形式,分别是:2600毫米轴距、四侧门加一后尾门的5乘员车型;2800毫米轴距、两侧门加一后尾门的一横座、两纵座的8~10乘员车型。两者均为长车头,装备FRC硬顶车身、可敞篷、配备软篷,非承载式,风窗可前翻;均搭载从日本日产柴引进的具备世界级先进水平的3.152升增压中冷柴油发动机,在每分钟3600转时输出额定功率为101.5千瓦,在每分钟2000转时最大扭距313牛·米;驱动形式为四轮驱动。

  “勇士”新车型的开发具有前瞻性,充分考虑到用户与市场的需求变化,在设计研制上本着整车“二十年不落后”的指导原则,既大量采用国际先进技术,又使之适合国内用户的使用特点;既在装备等级上达到国际的先进水平,又兼顾性价比高的需要。

  “勇士”可塑性极强用途广泛

  “勇士”新型越野车军民两用且可塑性极强。它提供了一个适应车身改装变化、适用范围很广的底盘平台。因而,作为军车可以用作作战指挥车、物资运输车、兵员乘用车、通讯指挥车以及轻武器装载车;作为民用车,可广泛用于公安、武警、工程抢险、道路监理、森林消防、地质勘探、石油等特殊部门的专用车,也可成为一般用户载人购物、野外旅游、探险、体育赛事、物资运输等方面的交通工具,具有典型的机动性强、多用途的特点。

  “勇士”作为中国21世纪新型越野车,与一般同类车型相比,在外部造型、动力总成、越野通过性、整车安全性、信息化水平、整车设计与制造水平、整车操纵稳定性、乘坐舒适性以及军队专用配置等方面的技术、性能、功能上全部大幅升级。

Couldn't find BJC forum so I posted this here.

some basics.

- Name is "Warrior" or "勇士
- 2nd Gen light vehicle competition.
- goal is "not fall behind in 20 years."
- 2 wheel base versions: 0.5 ton 2600 mm, 5 passenger and 0.75 ton 2800 mm, 8 passenger
- Engine: nissan technology 3.125L turbocharged intercooled diesel. 101.5 KW at 3600 RPM. 2000 rpm max torque 313 Nm. and of course, 4wd.
- command vehicle, light weapon carrier. transport. civilan: police. engineering vehicle. firefighting etc etc. commercial sales at same time.

rumors:
- rumor has it that this thing ran the Qinghai Tibet route and back with relatively few problems.
- the only vehicle i know that do this with no problem is DongFeng heavy duty trucks.

It doesnt 'feel' as strong as the original, but then I guess the point is that they wanted to replace the panels as they were damaged?

Anyway, the Qinghai Tibet road - Ive done it on a bicycle, my bicycle never had any problems other than a squeaky brake and a flat tyre.

Anyways it should be as strong as a Landrover british army used. about the same, imho.

About Qinghai Tibet road,

Sorry, I said that wrong. The main Qinghai Tibet highway itself is ok or, it's fairly ok now. But if you go to the back countries especially if you go to the Sichuan Tibet road/ Yunnan Tibet area or some of those prefectures that are supposed to be cut off for half a year, it's some of the toughest terrain on earth.

My brother had a job to work on the cell towers around the untouched part of tibet. All the SUVs died except the DF trucks and this one unimog.

The unimog is an amazing peice of equip. Used widely in canada for clearing hydro right-of-ways. PTO on front and rear, huge range of impliments from snow removal to crop harvesting.
The unimog concept is what china should be redesigning (sounds better than copying, right?) Want to impress a girl? Pick her up in a unimog, here in canada its known as panty remover, lol.

Beijing Jeep BJ2S - new military jeep

BEIJING — When American auto designer Edward Wong set out to create the first new Chinese military Jeep in 35 years, he drew his inspiration from Bruce Lee and the Shaolin monks, Chinese Buddhists associated with the martial arts. Little wonder then, that the new BJ2S is nicknamed "the Warrior."

"I did not want to design another Humvee," Wong told Car Design News. "I want this vehicle to represent China, its people and its cultures."

While the BJ2S is on tap to replace all military Jeeps for the People's Liberation Army starting later this year, civilian versions are set to debut in the future.

The BJ2S is decidedly un-Humvee-ish with lots of Chinese influences. The front fascia is patterned after a mythical Chinese creature called a kylin or qilin that is said to be a good omen. The five slots in the grille stand for the five stars in the Chinese flag, and the three-slot front guard represents the army, air force and navy.

What this means to you: The People's Republic of Jeep rolls out a landmark military vehicle.

Here is a picture I took from the civilian version at the Beijing Auto Show this year, it looks really huge and impressive. Quality seemed fine as well:


The civilian version is called B60 and will be for sale in Beijing...once. So far, I haven't seen any driving around yet.

Yongshi new prototypes (extended chassis)

New prototypes based on extended-chassis Yongshi were shown in March, consisting of a canopied troop carrier, a single-cab pickup, and a 5-door hardtop troop carrier/wagon. New Yongshis are distinguished by prominent pressings on the fenders.
