Yeah, I was the proud owner of 4(!) BJ212's, all imported in the Netherlands between 1987-1991. Two of them are still on the road here in the vicinity of my village in France. Maintenance was a big problem, missing the authentic spare parts. Many travels to China I returned with a suitcase full of parts... I liberated myself from them by giving them away to neighbours and friends..

It is now 51 years in production, probably one of the oldest car still in production.

Sorry, I have never heart of anyone in Canada with a BJ212 or BJ2020. Yes, there are some people in the US. And some in Europe. Any questions about the vehicle?

My fourth Beijing Jeep (made in 1989, I drove it from 2003-2013) had practically the same colour!

Lawrence, in my history document "Cars and 4x4s from Beijing and Tianjin" I wrote a chapter about the early export of the BJ212 all over the world. For the US I mentioned the China Trade Associates (Portland, Oregon), they named the vehicles Beijing Tiger (in 1983); BAM North America in 1996, FMW of America (Indio, California) under the Copia brand (some Beijing and some Jiangxi Fuqi) in 1998. I have pictures of BAM and FMW.
I am very interested in this Gangstar thing of David Shelburg. Do you have more info, photos, docu?
