Hi Johnny Blaze,Johnny Blaze said:"Don't beleive the hype"
Wiki is not that resource, to consider it's info as an axiom
it's a pitty but sometimes the content is blowing my mind...
Wiki was not my only resource, if your actually interested you could look up the following electric motorcycles
zero motorcycles---> they run the LiFePO4 battery as well
brammo enertia ----> LiFePO4
It sounds like no matter what I say, you won't believe it. Just google up LiFePO4, and you would get plenty of information. A lot of EV builders like to use it as well.
And regarding the comments about e6 vs. Volt, there are two things you must keep in mind
1. Volt is a plug in hybrid, and e6 is pure electric
-Even when the volt is within the 40mile electric range, its still lugging around a very heavy engine and components that are required to run that engine.
2. Volt is planning to run the outdated LiIon battery, while the e6 is running the space age LiFePO2
-Not only is GM using an outdated battery, it is sourcing it from LG in Korea. GM just doesn't have the battery technology/facility to produce the Volt all in house.
-And keep in mind BYD is a battery company, and source to many electronic manufactures.
And for 40K, its steep for the normal people but tree huggers would pay that for a electric car that could be purchased off the shelf. It would get cheaper, just a matter of time. (Anyone still remember how much the first generation Ipod cost when it was launched in 2001??)
Keep in mind, at the moment China has the leading technology in terms of batteries. And BYD is China's leading battery manufacture.
