Hello Martin, the first link "...2944.html" that you have included in the April 20 edit of my post is actually of the Sirui, and so are the two thumbnails of the silver car. The other link is OK. Sorry, didn't notice this earlier.

BYD "3rd-generation" F3

The BYD7157 doing the rounds since 2015 has finally begun arriving at dealerships and launch seems to be imminent. It will be marketed as the "3rd generation" (第三代) F3 and initially offered with a 1.5 L engine. A 1.2 L unit is expected later.

are all three still in production?
Erik's question has been finally answered. Only 1 variant each from the 1st (BYD7150A) and 2nd (BYD7156A) generations will continue to be on sale. With the launch and price announcement of the 3rd-gen (BYD7157A), all other older variants have been taken off the local market (except dealer inventory).

In a handful of overseas markets, the 1st F3 remains on sale, although in most other places, this has been gradually replaced by the L3 (itself not produced post Oct'15), and then the Surui.

I think there is nothing on the net w.r.t this particular car that can help you. A suggestion here is that it could be the control unit, as you say, or you can go over the comments here:[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYpIjnBGL-E"]Video[/ame]

Better get in touch with the people who operated BYD e6 taxis in Rotterdam. Where did they get repairs and service? You may want to ask around.

2018 BYD F3 range

The F3 lineup has been reorganized as 2018 models with downward price adjustments, however, cars from all three generations remain:

The first generation (BYD7150A) is now Classic (经典型)
The second generation (BYD7156A) is now Fashion or Elite (时尚型/精英型)
The third generation (BYD7157A) is now Exclusive (尊享型)

Moreover, number of Surui variants has been brought down to three:

BYD F3 (Egypt)

In the first two months of 2019, Al-Amal Auto sold 577 units of the BYD F3 in Egypt, placing it second among locally assembled sedans and sixth overall. Of these, 355 were sold in January (by comparison, the S5 SUV sold just 13 units in two months). In 2018, annual sales were 6,893 units.

BYD started assembling the first F3 way back in late 2009. This was then replaced by the L3, which had been a pretty popular Chinese car in the Middle East. The version of the F3 currently assembled in Egypt is the second generation.

Re: BYD F3 sedans

The third-generation F3 (3B) has just been upgraded to China-VI standards and renamed as "Value" (超值) edition, previously "Exclusive". The price has been reduced by around 8,000 RMB from 2018 levels, so it could have been decontented compared to the 2018 edition.

The F3 lineup as of today consists of two models, Value and Classic (the latter also upped to China-VI last year). Both come with 5-speed manual transmission only.

The second-generation F3 (3A) known as Elite or Fashion since 2018 is no longer listed; however, NDRC has approved a China-VI version of this model too, so it may be reintroduced in the coming days.
