April 2, 2008 - Chnagan Mazda launched its high-quality new sedan model -- "Mazda2 Jingxiang," which means "Mazda2 dynamic flying" -- in Beijing today as the car's world premiere. The new Masda2 vehicles are sold at prices between RMB 86.800 ($12,000) and RMB 115,800.
To cater to the different needs of Chinese customers, the carmaker has released six Mazda2 Jingxiang models with 1.3 and 1.5L engines, and the minimum fuel consumption ranges from 4.9L/100km to 5.3L/100km. The lowest and highest prices are set for the 1.3 manual and the 1.5L automatic luxury models respectively. The Mazda Advanced Impact-energy Distribution and Absorption System is also featured in the safety design of the Mazda2 vehicles.
The latest version of Mazda2 has a "dynamic and elegant" form designed to capture new customers in the rapidly growing Chinese B-car segment. The new models will greatly strengthen Mazda's product lineup in China. Mazda says it will maintain its pursuit of harmony between driving pleasure and environmental and safety performance, and always strives to be a brand that provides an exhilarating driving experience.
In order to achieve its mid-term target of production and sales of 300,000 units in China in 2010, Mazda will continue to promote the Zoom-Zoom brand promise. The Masda2 Jingxiang and the all-new Mazda2 five-door hatchback are the first models of Mazda's evolved Zoom-Zoom new generation products. The new Masda2 concept has received excellent reviews since its global rollout schedule was announced last summer.
The Mazda2 Jingxiang, based on the techniques and features of the all-new Mazda2 manufacturing, is made for the Chinese market at the Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co. plant in Nanjing. The Nanjing plant is able to make 160,000 units a year and "features cutting-edge eco-friendliness, efficiency, and an employee-friendly working environment."
