[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Changan Suzuki achieved a total sales volume of 90,000 units of vehicles during the January-September period this year, an increase of 30 percent from the same period last year. The Gazelle model's sales volume doubled from last year's figure and the Swift model registered an increase of 180 percent from the same period last year.
The remarkable success in sales is attributed to the strategic adjustment made by the company, according to Huang Zhongqiang, deputy general manager of Changan Suzuki. First, the company has mapped out a plan for the future product line and improved communication with its Japanese partner. Second, production costs have been reduced to enable the marking down of the Swift model earlier this year. Third, product promotion has been strengthened for the major model Swift to highlight its economic and fuel-efficient features. In addition, the sales outlets have been standardized and optimized. Currently, the company has over 280 sales agents, among which nearly 60 percent are 4S (sales, spare parts, service and survey) shops.
Huang is optimistic about the company's sales for this year and next year since the company's products conform to State policy calling for economy and fuel efficiency, and Suzuki has strong technological expertise in small-displacement vehicles. The total sales volume of this year is expected to reach 120,000 to 130,000 units. The goal for next year is 150,000 to 160,000 units.

Changan Suzuki to launch 4 new models next year

Chongqing-based Changan Suzuki Automobile Co plans to launch four new models next year, a senior company official said.

Changan Suzuki, a joint venture company invested by Changan Automobile (51%), Suzuki (35%) and another Japanese investor (14%) in Southwestern city of Chongqing, currently sell only four series of models in Chinese market, including Alto, Lingyang, Tianyu and Swift.

"We plan to introduce four new models and six redesigned ones by 2008 to fill our product lineup, and details will be unveiled at appropriate time," said Wang Wei, vice-president of the joint venture.

A company source said one model will be a 1.0 Liter concept which is to be launched by the end of 2008.

Changan Suzuki sold 75,000 vehicles in the first nine months of this year, and the automaker has to sell additional 65,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter to achieve its sales target this year.

Changan Suzuki to display new models at Beijing auto show.

April 7, 2008 - Chongqing Chang'an Suzuki Automobile Co.,Ltd., a joint venture between Chang'an Motors and Suzuki Motors, will unveil some 18 models of Swift and Tianyu SX4, the Xinhua news agency reported today.

Mr Takashi Mayazaki, deputy general manager of Changan Suzuki, told the media that the company plans to launch various editions of the two brands, aiming to meet discriminating demands of its customers.

Changan Suzuki fell short of its target last year by selling only 110,000 vehicles, a market share of 3%, almost no increase over 2005. Mayazaki attributes this to the lack of new models and poor sales network but he denied the company has any plan to produce the Suzuki Vitara SUV in China in 2008.

He further added that the company will bring its latest products to China and increase the number of dealers from 50 to 200 within 2008.

While Changan Suzuki is struggling to meet its sales target, Changan Auto Group's other joint venture Changan Ford Mazda sold 217,848 vehicles in China last year, representing an increase of 60 percent from one year earlier.

June 20, 2008 - Chongqing Chang'an-Suzuki Automobiles Co., Ltd., a venture of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan in Southwest China, will launch eight new car models in the second half of 2008.

The venture, which released two new car models like 1.5L Swift and SX4 Sports Limited version during the first half of this year, will launch Swift summer special version, which adopts the design element of concept car model "concept-S" and is developed in three years, resembling BMW's small car model Mini-cooper.

The skylight version of the two-compartment SX4 will hit the market in the third quarter with the same price of two-compartment SX4 on sale.

Besides, Splash, a new-generation of Suzuki's classical small car model Alto which has attracted a lot of eyeballs since 2007-end, will be made in the venture at the year-end and sold in January 2009 with the same price range as Swift cars. Its instrument panel is quite similar to that of BMW Mini.

It seems that ChangAn finally got the agreement to merge ChangAn-Suzuki and ChangHe-Suzuki.

In 2010, ChangAn-Suzuki sold approximately 200,000 vehicle, while ChangHe-Suzuki only sold 80,000. ChangHe-Suzuki's sales decreased in 2011, with only 40,000 cars sold from January to July.
