I heard that this new model will replace the QQ.

Ive seen it before, but its a major improvement over the tiny QQ. Any info on if its an in house Chinese design or designed by Pinafarina or Bertone?

Well, since China's mini-car regulation(4 m) is different from that of Korea(3.5 m max), it makes sense for Chery to try to extend Matiz's wheelbase.

But the problem is, can Chery do it? Matiz was never designed for such an extended wheelbase, and Chery is risking structural integrity problem by stretching Matiz on its own.

Simple, that he is freaked out by Chinese stepping into the US car market.

They can't replace the QQ when the QQ is their best selling car. over 10,000 a month. They can sell this car along with QQ as an upgraded longer wheelbase version of QQ.

Chery didn't steal sales from GM daewoo. Chevy spark cost more than chery QQ and has less options like alloy wheels, tachometer, digital odometer, power windows/door locks, and many others. Chevy spark is ripping people off by giving less options and having higher price tag.

Daewoo has $500 million R&D cost to pay off. Chery doesn't.

This is why auto piracy is bad. Imagine Chery just blew $500 million on its inhouse designed QQ successor that complies with Euro regulations. Do you honestly believe this QQ successor would be as cheap as QQ?

S12 is hopefully to be Chery's next best seller. it will be equiped with chery's new ACTECO engine (designed with Austrian AVL). But most important of all, S12 will be totally different from a simply modified version of QQ series. it is completely newly designed from the exterior to the mechanical structure like the engine and the chassis. However, nothing has been officially confirmed by Chery Co. so far.

The price of S12 is unknown, but it will be probably between 45000-65000 yuan (around 5500-8000$) and it will hopefully be in production in October this year.
