Chery and Geely, China's two domestic car brands not part of joint ventures with overseas companies, became respectively the third and fifth-largest selling passenger car brands in January and February this year, according to statistics from China’s Department of Machinery & Electronic Products, part of the Ministry of Commerce.
Chery sold 41,641 vehicles in January and February, a 111.5% year on year increase, while Geely sold 35,508, an increase of 120.8% from a year earlier. Shanghai GM still led the market in thef first two months of this year, followed by Shanghai VW, Chery, Beijing Auto, and Geely.
