Hey guys, I figured I'd join this forum since a buddy and I bought an old VW Santana for $800 in China and decided to make a roadtrip series.
This Santana is a 1999, but was built from the 80's parts. China bought a lot of the Santana plants after it flopped in the west, so we have a bunch of 80s looking Santanas rolling around here in China.
We call him Carlos, and he's got 317,000 km. on the clock.

I thought you guys might enjoy the vid.

Welcome to the forums laowhy86 :thumb:

I like the series and will keep an eye out for future episodes.
How long have you been in China for? I see you have married a local and had a child.

SAIC VW have built VWs in China before we were both were born (1984) - read '1000 Days in Shanghai' to learn how the Germans and VW learnt how to do business in China.

I will be in Shanghai for the Auto Show in April - looking forward to my first Chinese experience :)
