January 17 – Citroen C4, which was firs introduced to Chinese market via imports, will be locally produced in the country in this year, Chinese auto web Cheshi.com.cn said.
The locally-made Citroen C4 coupe and hatchback will be priced at about RMB 110,000- RMB 160,000 ($15,000-$21,900) in Chinese market, the report said.
Citroen C4 is equipped with six airbags, electronic stabilizer system, parking auxiliary devices. It is available in both coupe and hatchback versions.
Prior to the local production of C4, the French automaker Citroen’s joint venture Dongfeng Citroen produces Fukang, Elysee, C2, Citromphe and Picasso models.
In 2007, Citroen sold 115,000 vehicles in Chinese market, which include 31,314 Citromphe vehicles, 31,449 Elysee vehicles, 28,004 Fukang vehicles, 6,852 Picasso vehicles, according to China’s National Association of Passenger Vehicle Manufacturers.

Dongfeng Citroën and Citroën unveiled the 2008 C-triomphe together with other C-series at the 2008 Beijing auto show. The 08 C-triomphe, according to the automaker, continues the advantages in safety, comfort and environmental protection.
08 C-Triomphe comes with 22 upgrades and has won C-NCAP five star rank. It is powered by Citroen's high profile 2.0L 16V engine. Top speed is 272 km/h and combined fuel consumption is 6.6 l /100 km.
Dongfeng Citroen failed to reach its expected sales volume of the Citroen-branded car models in China last year. Its joint venture automaker sold 115,000 units Citroen cars in 2007.
The automaker attributes the performance to the poor sales of Citroen C2, a newly launched compact car model, and C-Triomphe, a four-door three-compartment sedan that modeled on the Citroen C4.
