2008 C-triomphe to go on sale in China.

May 9, 2008 - Dongfeng Citroën is set to launch 2008 C-triomphe lineup in the Chinese market on May 18. The model will be sold from 149,800 yuan ($21,385) to 204,800 yuan.

Dongfeng Citroën and Citroën unveiled the 2008 C-triomphe together with other C-series at the 2008 Beijing auto show. The 08 C-triomphe, according to the automaker, continues the advantages in safety, comfort and environmental protection.

08 C-Triomphe comes with 22 upgrades and has won C-NCAP five star rank. It is powered by Citroen's high profile 2.0L 16V engine. Top speed is 272 km/h and combined fuel consumption is 6.6 l /100 km.

Dongfeng Citroen failed to reach its expected sales volume of the Citroen-branded car models in China last year. Its joint venture automaker sold 115,000 units Citroen cars in 2007.

The automaker attributes the performance to the poor sales of Citroen C2, a newly launched compact car model, and C-Triomphe, a four-door three-compartment sedan that modeled on the Citroen C4.

October 20, 2008 - Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Automobile Company (DPCA) plans to export 10,000 to 20,000 C-Triomphe cars to Russia in the coming three years, Beijing News reported today, citing sources of DPCA.

The DPCA originally planned to export 1,500 C-Triomphe cars to Russia in 2009, but as the Russian government raised the automobile entry policy last year, the automaker had to reapply for the license of export to Russia, sources said. “The application went very well, so DPCA will continue to promote the exports as planned,” said an executive of DPCA technical center.

DPCA now makes Elysee, Fukang, new 307, C-Triomphe and C2, all of which are jointly developed by DPCA and its French partner PSA Peugeot Citroen. DPCA and PSA co-own the intellectual property rights of these vehicles. PSA needs to pay the technical transfer fee to DPCA if it plans to put such vehicles into production in other plants abroad. But DPCA could export these vehicles to overseas markets on a consultative basis
with PSA.

PSA expects DPCA to be its overseas production base for cost saving. The French carmaker hopes that DPCA could export vehicles developed by Chinese and French parties together to all the countries and regions where PSA has its sales network but no manufacturing plant, sources said.

It is reported that PSA will set up the second plant of DPCA to be its production base of mid- and high-level sedans, which will be exported to Europe in the future. These Chinese-made vehicles will be based on the existing PSA mid- and high-level sedans and developed cooperatively by the Chinese and French parties.
