source: Gasgoo.comDecember 25, 2007 – PSA hatchback Peugeot 207 will be locally produced in China by the end of 2008, but the hatchback model will be changed into a sedan model in China, Beijing News reported today.
Peugeot 207 will be based on Peugeot 206’s chassis and technological platform, but it will retain body design features of the original Peugeot 207, the report said.
The new model will share the same production line and same engine models with Peugeot 206. It will be powered a 1.4 liter engine or a 1.6 liter engine. And it will be priced at a range of RMB 80,000 ($10,861) to RMB 100,000 ($13,576).
Peugeot 207 to be produced in China will target A0 segment market and it will compete with Honda City, Chevrolet Lova and Kia Rio.
After Peugeot 207 starts local production next year, Dongfeng PSA, the joint venture automaker between PSA Peugeot Citroen and its Chinese partner Dongfeng Motors, will be able to produce hatchback 206, 307 and sedan model 207,307, the report said.
In the first 11 months of the year, Dongfeng PSA sold 55,395 Peugeot 307 vehicles, up 21.1 percent from one year earlier and 25,713 Peugeot 206 vehicles, down 3.7 percent from one year earlier.
Last year, Peugeot’s two models, the 307 and 206, represent 40.4 percent of PSA’s sales in China, five of Citroen’s models, Fukang, Elysee, Xsara, Picasso, C2 and C-Triomphe accounted for the rest.
Recently, PSA Peugeot Citroen formally announced that the new Citroen C5 will be produced by Dongfeng Citroen, and has aroused the interests of domestic consumers and a variety of circles of people. May 26, 2008 - PSA Peugeot Citroën will launch Peugeot 207 CC, the coupe-cabriolet successor to the 206 CC in China in September 2008, according to Pascal Meyer, general manager of imports business of PSA Peugeot Citroën. He said that 207CC would replace the popular 206 CC, whose imports would stop.
According to dealers, the 207 CC is larger and more powerful than the 206CC. The selling price in China is about 300,000 yuan ($43,100).
The 207 CC adopts the front design of the 207 sedan. Its slender profile and pure lines evoke a dynamic impression. With a length of 4037 mm, and a wheelbase of 2540 mm, the 207CC is larger than the 206CC.
The ultimate expression of sporting luxury but rarely found in such a small convertible car, "integral leather" is an exceptional feature incorporating leather-lined seats and fascia panel. The 207CC has achieved five-star ratings of NCAP in safety performance.

from Gasgoo.comJuly 22, 2008 - French carmaker PSA will introduce its revamped Peugeot 206 sedan in its Chinese joint venture Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co (DPCA), reports Beijing Reference News today.
Earlier rumor said DPCA would produce the Iranian Peugeot 206 version, which was denied later by DPCA sources. "The new model has nothing to do with the Iranian Peugeot 206," sources said.
The upcoming Peugeot 206, based on the Peugeot 207 European version in looks and interior, is revamped for catering to Chinese market tastes, sources familiar with the matter said. The model will also inherit the distinctive Peugeot "big mouth" style.
The new model reportedly will go through big changes in dimensions. The Peugeot 207 European version measures 4.03m at length, 1.72m at width and 1.47m at height, much bigger than the existing 206 version in China market.
August 29, 2008 - Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Automobile, a joint venture between the Dongfeng Motor Corporation and the PSA Group, has started to mass produce the Peugeot 207, company sources told a Chinese newspaper.
The National Business Daily reported that domestically made Peugeot 207 will go on sale in November but the existing 206 model will not instantly quit the market.
Peugeot 207 Compact, which is being produced and sold in Argentina and Brazil under the name of Peugeot 207, is a re-styled Peugeot 206 with a new interior and a front similar to 207 and 307 models. The report said it will feature some additional modifications particularly made for Chinese customers.
Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen launched the previous 206 model in China in early 2006. But with intensified competition, the 206 model's sales began to suffer and the car closed the first half of this year with 15,500 units sold, down 42 percent from one year earlier.
The company's popular Peugeot 207 CC, the coupe-cabriolet successor to the 206 CC, will also be launched in China on September 6, which would replace the existing 206 CC on sale in the Chinese market

The Peugeot 207 hatchback and sedan made by the joint venture will sell at a price between 80,000 yuan ($11,700) and 120,000 yuan when they go on sale in the Chinese market at the end of October. The existing 206 model, whose production is still going on, will not instantly quit the market. The Peugeot 206 now sells in China for 77,800-113,800 yuan.
The China-made Peugeot 207 for the local market is different from the Peugeot 207 model being sold in Europe and will feature some additional modifications particularly made for Chinese customers. The re-styled Peugeot 206 made in Argentina and Brazil was renamed Peugeot 207 Brasil when it was launched in the Brazilian market in May this year.
Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen launched the previous 206 model in China in early 2006. But with growing competition, the 206 model's sales began to suffer, closing the first half of 2008 with only 15,500 units sold, down 42% from one year earlier. The company hopes the Peugeot 207 will reverse the slide in sales.
