Following the formation of a new JV IKAP (Iran Khodro Automobiles Peugeot) between, obviously, Iran Khodro and Groupe PSA, production of the Peugeot 207i restarted in Iran a few weeks ago. IKCO had stopped making the 207i back in 2012 due to cessation of component supplies in light of trade sanctions. However, the older 206, which had a high degree of localization, continued to be manufactured throughout this period.
The hatchback is being made, and the sedan is expected to follow shortly. Engine is the TU5 1.6 L 105-hp unit with a 5-Speed MT.
Interestingly, around the same time (early December), the Peugeot 207 Compact, essentially the same car for Mercosur, was accorded the farewell at El Palomar, Argentina, the only other plant producing this model in 2016.
