Re: Dongfeng Peugeot 408
I have bought the 408 1.6 turbo in Malaysia
Engine is excellent
However due to the poor setting of vehicle automatic transmission gear change speeds I am experiencing very poor fuel consumption for this car. It consumes more fuel in town than my 11 year old mercedes CLK Kompressor 2.3l
I feel that this is due to the late chenging of gears in the regular mode which only changes gears at fixed speeds and nothing else, does not sense load and shifts gears at predetermones speeds which wastes fuel especially when driveing the car in a relaxed way. the most irritable and late gear change is from 3rd to 4th gear where the engine drags to 2500 rpm even when going down hill. There is no adaptive component as far as I can tell aafter driving the car for three weeks now
is there any way to program the Transmission control module to change gears at 1800 RPM whn there is no load (or driving gently)? In the interest of fuel economy and Carbon foot print size of course
Thank you
