Most of the attention has focused on the vast investments made by global automakers in setting up production facilities in China. Altogether, foreign automakers have committed in excess of US$13bn to triple annual capacity to 6m units by the year 2010.

Report: Ford may lose up to $9 billion this year
NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Ford Motor Co. could post a pretax loss of $8 billion to $9 billion this year because of losses at its automotive operations and charges for restructuring, the Detroit News reported today, citing unnamed Ford sources. Automotive operations are projected to rack up pretax losses of $5.6 billion to $5.9 billion, according to a Sept. 6 internal report prepared by CFO Don Leclair's office, according to the report. story

Ford will fall at the same rate as chinese cars will increate

WOW GM, Toyota and VW would be the biggest contributors to this $13bn investment, VW plan to release 12 new models by 2010.

I think this is a good news for Chinese workforce. Foreign companies trust in Chinese quality. Besides car market is growing each year and that leaves room for every company to operate. Do you know how much domestic automakers have invested in future products ? It's a big sum of money too.

It's a pocket change compared to what foreigners are spending on their product R&D.
