Re: Geely GC7

Yes, your conjecture is correct.

Many Geely products are in fact badged GCx abroad, e.g. GC2 (Xiongmao), GC5 (SC6 Jingang Hatchback and the upcoming sedan), GC6 (SC6 Jingang sedan), so not a surprise the SC7 Haijing which is exported to quite a few countries is badged GC7 elsewhere, especially since the Chinese-market GC7 is not available in those markets. However, SKD-assembled SC7s in Belarus (BelGee) and Ethiopia (Mesfin) are known as SC7 and Saba respectively.

And don't go by logo - it seems Geely's placement of logos is now quite arbitrary (!), since every model is a "Geely" now.

PS: In many foreign markets, the marque Emgrand has been retained, even for cars which were not Emgrands in the Chinese market.

Re: Geely GC7

Thanks very much Dmitra for that clarification. I noticed that the photo used in the review did not show the updated SC7(GC7), with the new vertical grille bars. I'm guessing that may also have something to do with export market differences, namely different tastes for body styling.

Re: Geely GC7

The GC7 introduced in 2011 has been discontinued. The 2014 model is now named simply "Yuanjing".
