SEOUL (AFX) - Hyundai Motor Co plans to produce a 'super cheap' economy compact car aimed at China and other emerging markets, JoongAng Daily reported, citing a company executive.
'Hyundai will strategically develop a budget car aimed at the Chinese, Indian, Southeast Asian and Central and South American markets,' the executive was quoted as saying.
The compact car, with an engine size smaller than 1,000cc, will be introduced to China in 2010 at prices beginning at 30,000 yuan or below 4,000 usd, the executive said.
Hyundai's Chinese affiliate, Beijing Hyundai, has already sent letters to its parts suppliers in China to prepare for the project, it added.

If they really smashed the defects by a baseball bat, do u think they did it to scare Chinese employees? The act was to stress the important of quality and it happened in Hyundai factory in SK as well. It's not applied only to chinese employees. Because The quality was the top priority of Chung Mong GU, Hyundai CEO! And do you know what Samsung did? The field of trade belong to china, they know better than anyone the intricacies, loop holes and pressure release valves of their own industry. they have adopted the model of quick sale, small profit, which finds its advantage not so much in qualitative value but in quantitative (volume) sales. the world is turning to china for the labour solution surounding auto production, hence it will be difficult to any foriegn competitor to compete successfully within the chinese market inspite of the fact that they have adopted the methods. hyundai, despite their best efforts, cannot stick it to chineses manufacturers within the chinese marketplace.

Already Chery's QQ3 is being sold for as low as 29800 yuan. With competition from other auto makers and increase in production volume, Chery could easily sell QQ3 for about 25000 yuan when it's 2010.
