Iran's leading car manufacturer Iran Khodro Company is going to launch an assembly line in China for its latest product Samand Soren.
According to ISNA on Monday, the carmaker plans to manufacture 10,000 sedans in China in the first phase of the project, which will become operational by the second half of the next Iranian year (Sept. 22, 2008).
Soren, a type of Samand sedan which is referred to as 'Iran's national car', was displayed during an international car exhibition in Shanghai and welcomed by Chinese visitors.
The contract for setting up a Samand assembly line in China has been concluded with a Chinese company. Under this agreement, up to 30,000 Samand sedans will be annually produced in the world's second largest economy.
Giant carmaker, Iran Khodro, is targeting part of the multi-million Chinese auto market.
Earlier, the automaker announced that it will export 1,000 Samand sedans to China by June or July.
