From A South African point of view GWM arrived in this country just short of two years ago and has all reddy claimed a 7% maket share. Now if you compaire that to Toyota who has been going here for over 20 years who has a 20% share i thingk they are starting to make head way.

They started here with only the single cab pick ups and the the DBL cab pickups. now the Wringel and the Hover have hit and the public have gone mad. allthough the country is going through though times right now the sales are still there and that market share will climb befor the year end.

BUT the simelareties between GWM and the toyota, GW ISUZU are very much notcibel wich leaves the SA counsumer wondering is this not just a cheap knock off????

Price is king. As long as GWM can offer a well designed product, with good quality and durability, all at a great price, people will buy. Who would not want to get the most out of their hard-earned money? Unique and break-through designs are great, but only if the consumers are willing to pay more for it. (In mature, rich markets, yes. But not SA).

I live in the US and we are now seeing some hard economic times. If we have cars and trucks that offer high value (and good on gas), it would sell really well right now. Everyone is lowering their budgets and looking for good gas mileage. The US market is ripe for well made Chinese cars and trucks that offer great value.

7 % market share already , really ?

And how about other Chinese carmakers , how are they doing in South Africa ?

Well the south african buyer is very inquesitive so Bulid quality plays a major part in the final deal.so some of your other chines car brands are batteling now .

but the south african buyer likes his brand name so selling a GWM requers alot of selling most south africans are die hard toyota or isuzu fans but that is starting to change as we now see these bigger brands now starting to better GWM prices to secure deals wich leaves the consumer thinking that if isuzu can drop their price now when they are up against GWM why were they paying up to R40 000.00 more before GWM arrived?????????
