On August 19, the joint venture of JMC (Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd.) and Ford started production of the Everest at its factory in Nanchang, Jiangxi.

The seven-seater SUV shares a platform with the Ford Ranger pickup truck. With body-on-frame construction, the Everest employs double wishbone for front suspension and Watts linkage with coil springs in the rear.

Launched in November 2014, the China-made Everest was designed by Max Tran at Ford’s Asia Pacific Design Centre in Melbourne. Sitting on a 2850mm wheelbase, it is 4892mm long, 1862mm wide, and 1837mm tall. The ground clearance is 225mm.

Petrol versions are powered by a 2.0T EcoBoost engine, which is paired to a 6AT. The diesel choice, a 2.2T Duratorq TDCi, gets an addition gearbox option of 6MT.

The factory rolling out the Everest is located in the Nanchang Xiaolan Economic Development Zone, in the south of the capital city of Jiangxi. Besides the Everest, Jiangling Ford also builds the Transit (Tourneo) vans, JMC Yusheng SUV, and 2.0T EcoBoost engines in the economic zone.
