The automobile plant in Azerbaijan's second largest city, Ganja, is expected to start manufacturing up-to-date Chinese cars this May.
The Ganja Automobile Plant will cooperate with the plants of China's well-known Jan-Gan company, its director Khanlar Fatiyev said. Under the agreement reached, the assembly of trucks of average size and vans will be initially arranged at the Ganja facility.
Average-duty trucks of 18 modifications and vans of 12 types will be manufactured. In June, the assembly of cars of another Chinese giant, Lifan Industrial Group, will begin in the Azeri city. A letter of intent has already been reached, with a relevant contract to be signed in the coming days, Fatiyev said. The Ganja plant is currently producing cars of Russian Vaz brand ("Zhiguli") of 14 models and plans to continue collaborating with the company. As for the Russian "Oka" cars of small size, Fatiyev said their production had been suspended due to the lack of efficiency. http://www.azernews.net/view.php?d=8068
