New Meishan Island plant for Lynk & Co

Geely has filed paperwork for a new plant to be set up on Meishan Island in Beilun District, Ningbo, Zhejiang reportedly exclusively for large Lynk & Co vehicles.

When completed, this will be its third Lynk & Co plant (after new Luqiao and Zhangjiakou), the third Geely plant in Beilun District as well as the fourth plant in Ningbo city (with one in Cixi, which comes under Ningbo). Apparently 15 existing car plants are not enough, or some older ones cannot be modernized/adapted for modular production.

Anyway, cars based on Volvo's SPA architecture will be built here. Two other platforms, DMA and EMA, are under development, which are adaptations of the CMA matrix for large vehicles (as BMA is for smaller) . This plant will start off with an SUV (EX11) and a sedan (ES11).

At 2019 Auto Shanghai, Lynk & Co unveiled PHEV versions of the 02 and 03. The 01 PHEV had gone on sale last July.
