Are they made in China? I know BMW has assembly plant in China to assemble 5 series, but what about the 3 series and C class from Mercedes?

As for Audi, I guess most of them are made in China since VW is the most popular brand there, am I right?

based on the reputation in China among those car makers...

I would buy A4L (1.8T will do!) , sharp image and good quality, and in many trims.

Okay, so for the benz, at least there are options to have imported vehicles instead of locally produced ones?

I noticed that the imported units don't have Chinese brand on the back, while locally produced ones do, am I correct?

CBU cars are expensive in China but not entirely due to tarrif and transportation. Importers also push the CBU price high, not only the government.
