Shanghai, November 4 ( SAIC Motor Corp is showcasing a fuel-cell sedan under the Shanghai brand at the China International Industry Fair 2008 held in Shanghai today, the Xinhua news agency reported.

The Shanghai-brand sedan comes with fuel cell batteries developed by the group itself, which are able to drive 20 km on a single fill of a battery packed.

Once launched, the fuel-cell will mark the first time for the group to revive the Shanghai brand since it abandoned the marque 16 years ago.

SAIC once said it plans to put the fuel-cell sedan into commercial production and roll out 1,000 units in 2010. The model is expected to be the first fuel-cell passenger car commercially viable soon in China.

Also at the event SAIC has exhibited the first China-built hybrid sedan, the Buick LaCrosse Eco-Hybrid, a fuel-cell Passat Lingyu and two self-developed cars including Roewe 550 and MG3SW.
