That's OK, Martin.

Yes, Run Pard might supplant Zhongxing someday was something mentioned in a couple of articles, but I suppose that is for the passenger vehicle segment only which is linked to GAC - I think pickups will stay with Zhongxing due to the brand equity and familiarity in domestic and export markets.

RunPard (Lanbao) brand controversy

Subsequent to the media exposure about the RunPard brand, other articles have appeared speculating on the origins of the brand. In an interesting turn of events, GAC has denied any association with the new brand, implying that RunPard was a brand registered by and belonging to Zhongxing Auto only. When reporters, who had apparently gotten hold of "official" publicity material, confronted PR at GAC-ZXAuto (the 60-40 partnership), it was communicated to them that RunPard was actually a brand of Zhongxing but that the investment, technological input, and production related to RunPard would be centered on GAC-ZXAuto in Yichang. Armed with this info, reporters tried to confirm the same with GAC, but GAC reiterated that neither GAC nor GAC-ZXAuto had anything to do with RunPard.

We are digressing from the topic, but still:

GAC was the controlling shareholder of Hunan Changfeng Auto (or GAC Changfeng Auto) for a few years only. After the formation of the GAC-Mitsubishi JV in 2012, Changfeng Group, Hunan Changfeng Auto's previous owner bought back the company without the Changsha plant which was retained by GAC-Mitsubishi. Two other factories in Chuzhou (Anhui) and Yongzhou (Hunan) came back to the Changfeng Group, along with the Liebao brand. These factories are now placed under a subsidiary Anhui Liebao Auto. Anhui Liebao Auto's shares are held by a new entity Hunan Liebao Auto (as Hunan Changfeng Auto does not exist as a company anymore) of the Changfeng group. Yes, Hunan Provincial govt's. assets commission owns the Changfeng group.

See this for a good history article.
