MAN and its Chinese partner Sinotruk have unveiled a new truck brand for China and other emerging markets. The brand will be known internationally as SITRAK, but marketed under the name Shandeka in China. The first model, the T7H, is currently on display at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The brand’s logo features three stylized ginkgo leaves, symbolizing endurance and vitality in Asia. In China, the brand will be sold exclusively through Sinotruk’s dealer network, though export markets will be served by the existing sales networks of MAN and Sinotruk. The companies expect yearly sales to total 200,000 trucks by 2018, with 160,000 from the Chinese market alone.

The heavy-duty T7H truck combines Sinotruk’s components and MAN technology. It will enter production at the Jinan facility in China this coming December. Order books will open for Chinese customers in the first six months of 2012. Export sales will follow in the second half of 2012.

The German OEM first partnered with Sinotruk in 1983 (then known as Heavy Duty Truck Corporation) for the construction and licensing of Steyr trucks. In 2009, MAN invested €560m (US$806m) in Sinotruk and has a direct interest in the Chinese manufacturer with a 25% stake plus one share.
