The QQ is actually my wife's car and i was just driving it till i bought my own. so, i'm gonna drive the A5 mostly.

I found a nice feature in the A5 today, it can calculate your current fuel consumption rate while driving. This is very informative, depressing and distracting at the same time.
I kept looking at the consumption rate while driving and kept hoping i don't have an accident. The car on 80 km/h constant speed consumes between 4.5 to 7.5 l/100 km on 4th gear with no A/C.
The A/C adds about 1L/100 km extra to these numbers.
If you even think about accelerating the conumption ranges from 9 to 13 L/100km.
I won't know how these numbers convert to actual fuel cinsumption till i refuel my car next week.
The sound system is AWESOME!! but is hard to use while driving.
The sound system's lcd screen is VERY hard to read in strong daylight but is a joy at night.
I found parking to be rather easy, not harder than my old regata.

I'll post more reviews later.

I thought those meters that calculate your current fuel consumption rate while driving where only found on luxury cars. 4.5 -7 litre/100km is very good, my old honda accord gets 9 liters /100km. That gauge on my friends Lexus sometimes reads 25litres/100km when stepping on the accelerator hard so it's prob. not very accurate even on Lexus. Don't worry too much about that meter. Chery's website saids the 1.6 litre A5 should get 5.2 litres/100km.

The 1.6 litre Chery A5 was just launched in China. it cost 77,777RMB - 85,800RMB (10000USD - 10900USD). The 2.0 litre cost 88,888RMB -105,800RMB (11,400USD - 13,800USD). Only the manual transmission is available. Cars weight is 1290kg, Tires 195/55 R15. 1.6 litre has 80kw (119hp) 2.0 litre has 95kw (142hp). Fuel Tank holds 52 litres of fuel. 5.2l/100km for 1.6 litre and 5.5l/100km for 2.0 litre.

actually the a/c is not working well so i don't use it, and i did my best to drive smooth and shift early. the same way i drive averages 16.5 kms/litre in my QQ.
The car manual actualy says it consumes 7 litres/100 kms on constant 80 km/h speed.

does anybody else own a A516? i'd like to know what other people are getting from theri car.

How much does a Litre of gas cost in Egypt?

92 octane =1.4 EGP/Litre
90 octane= 1.3 EGP/Litre

1 USD = 5.8 EGP

my first full tank on which i made the previous calculations was on 92. i filled now with 90 to see the difference. uptill now no difference in performance.

By the way, the car is really really stable at high speeds(80 to 120). i took curves on this speed in a way that i would have never been able to do in my qq or regata.

1.4EGP/litre about USD $0.25 /litre. That is crazy cheap, if fuel is that cheap why worry about fuel consumption. In China gas is 4.50RMB/litre about USD $0.60/litre.

Hi, fmohiy

My car A516 did about 12 liters/145 Km that mean it make about 8.3 L/100 Km I think this rate is a good for new Engine I asked a friend of me he has Proton GEN-2 about fuel and told me his car make approximately 9 L/100 Km so I found this rate not bad and let us see the rate again after 20,000 Km for example. ( I got 2700 Km with my car and it work fine just a/c not good enough and I need to adjust the wheel alignment cuz it go right in straight road , lately I heard a whistle near the wheel left and I asked the service center about it they told me this because I need to djust The wheel, any way I feel happy with my new A516. )
Are there more Cherys on the road in Egypt or more Protons?

To Besho

how did you measure your fuel consumption? I fill my car to the end and reset the kms counter to zero, then i drive till the refill lamp lights and refill again to the end. i compare the number of litres the car needs in the next refill with the reading of the kms counter to calculate how much litres consumed in how many kms.
also, do you drive more on open roads or in heavy traffic?

could you also write the number of the service center? thanks

To hazik
gas is cheap in egypt because salaries are very little and cars are somewhat expensive. so, if fuel was expensive too no one would drive cars, only rich people would afford driving cars.

the average government emloyee gets a monthly salary of 500 to 1000 EGP
and the smallest car like my QQ cost 45,000 EGP so, a normal employee would have to save half his paycheck for more than 8 years just to get the most basic of chineese cars, that is if he CAN actually afford to save half his paycheck. i myself don't have anything left from my paycheck on the 25th and i have just one5 months old kid AND my wife works to help in the house expenses.

things are bad in egypt and they get worse every year, no wonder chineese cars are getting so popular.
Thanks for the info. Can people who can't afford to pay full price for the car get a loan to buy a car. And do you know how much a litre of fuel cost in Saudi Arabia?
