Happy New Year, CCF followers!
I made a suggestion previously for a new category called: "Alternate Fuel Vehicles". That was a mistake... in the context of today's China's auto industry development. I should have made the suggestion to bring the trailblazer start-ups to the fore. That is, companies like NIO, Byton, Xpeng, Tesla, Bordrin, WM Motors, etc..
Now when visitors to this website stop by, they only see the established makers of mostly ICE vehicles, albeit their rapid change as well. Sadly, if they want to see what's happening among the vanguard NEV leaders, they must dig into the depths of the many pages of that one isolated category I mentioned above.
Instead we need for the " Alternate Fuel Vehicles" category to be replaced by a main category, perhaps entitled: "NEVs, ICVs, and autonomous vehicles". And then the sub categories of that, by individual manufacturer name.
Furthermore, photos of those leaders latest models would really give this website a boost.
And so I hope this post will elicit some responses with opinions and other suggestions.
In any case, I do appreciate the efforts of the current moderators, and hope that Vertical Scope will decide to breathe some new life into this website, before it fades away.

hello,

Thanks for being a member on the site. what can we do specifically?

Lee
Hello Lee,
After a time, since no one has expressed a concern similar to mine, I have to conclude that such silence indicates the need for a change, is a non-issue.
As for what to "do specifically", I think that adding an industry savy "car guy" to the VS staff would work wonders.
Hi Lee,

I think Lawrence misunderstood your question.

Lee was perhaps asking what specific changes to the forum appearance/organization can be made from their end to bring about some of the changes demanded by Lawrence.

Till some years ago, our forum moderator "CCF mod" (a.k.a. martin_krpan) had some privileges on the forum that enabled him to make changes to the appearance/organization of the site, like adding subforums, arranging child forums alphabetically, etc. But lately he told us that those privileges were abruptly withdrawn, and he longer is able to make new subforums. Probably only an administrator of the site has such rights now.

What Lawrence likely wants is a new main section on the forum landing page for startup manufacturers of NEVs, Intelligent connected vehicles, etc. (equal in rank to the "Chinese Car Manufacturers", "Foreign/Chinese Joint Venture Car Manufacturers", "Other China Motor Vehicles" sections) under which these new-age manufacturers will be nested.

At present, moderators of this forum cannot make these changes; they can only create new threads or move, copy, delete, or rename threads. So, what specifically the administrator(s) can do is restore these privileges (to create new sections/subsections) to one or both of the current moderators (CCF mod and/or dmitra). The moderator can then evaluate a member's demand for a new section/subsection and act accordingly (acquiesce or reject).

Of course, there is a risk if somehow spammers get hold of these privileges and mess up the forum. That admins will have to take a call on that.

Nicely written. I wrote another private message to Administrator to again enable me access to vBulletin Message but unfortunately got no reply. As usual.
.........unfortunately got no reply. As usual.
We can understand your frustration.
Wish I lived in Toronto, so I could go and knock on VS's door and explain my point of view....., and learn theirs.
I've been a regular visitor as you know, and see this (attractive, easy to navigate, rich in history) site as still having lots of potential.

Thanks for the back up, DMitra.
Yes , on the home page, of 8 sections, that "new main section" you cite might take the position of section No.4, between "Foreign/Chinese Joint Ventures Manufacturers", and No.5 ,"Other China Motor Vehicles".
And, then the current heading of Alternative Fuel Vehicles", in section No.2, would have to be renamed something like, for example, "Lightweight NEVs and LSEVs".
Hello,

We can add an Alternate Fuel Vehicles section for this site.
Where would you like us to have this section under?

Ed
Hello Ed

Thanks for replying!

There is already an "Alternative fuel vehicles" subsection under the "General" section, listed just beneath "General Discussion".

Lawrence's view is that this "Alternative fuel vehicles" subsection does not have enough visibility or attraction because it lists startup electric vehicle makers and models, low-speed electric vehicle makers and models, and electric commercial vehicle makers all lumped together, without proper arrangement, which makes it difficult for visitors to find out about the new startup electric vehicle makers (i.e. New Energy Vehicle Manufactures) such as Tesla, Nio, Weltmeister, Bordrin, Byton, Xiaopeng, Hozon, Aiways, NEVS, Lixiang, Leapmotor, etc. unless they wade through a mass of threads. It would be better if there could be a new main section "New Energy Vehicles" or some such heading (we can decide on that) located after "Foreign/Chinese Joint Venture Car Manufacturers" and above "Other China Motor Vehicles". Also some prominent manufacturers should be nested under this new section, appearing on the main page, the list of which we can decide on later.

So it should appear something like:

"New Energy Vehicle & Connected Vehicle Manufacturers"
then beneath it child forums (sub-forums):

Aiways
Bordrin
Byton
Dayun EV
Enovate
Hozon
Hycan
Human Horizons
Iconiq
Leap Motor
Lixiang
NEVS
Qiantu
Reech
Seres
Singulato
Sinogold
Sitech
Suda
Techrules
Tesla China
Weltmeister
Xiaopeng
Zedriv
Other

(this list is just indicative)

The "Alternative fuel vehicles" subsection which exists the "General" section can then be used for just the less prominent (read ordinary or not-so-high-tech) electric vehicle makers or low-speed electric makers.

Another way is to promote the "Alternative fuel vehicles" subsection to a main section, rename it to "New Energy Vehicle & Connected Vehicle Manufacturers", have the nested list of prominent manufacturers under it on the main page, as shown above, and use the last child forum "Other" to park threads for the residual manufacturers.
