Seems like the "dummies" survived. Its not like cars of the '80s, or small SUVs of the '90s that just folded up on impact.....

Plus, that's the previous model. It was never that great anyway. The 2008s are much better.
(No, I'm not defending a minivan! ;) )

I am a Sales Engineer and I drive about 2000 miles a month. I was getting 13 mpg with my jeep and now I am getting between 52 and 55 mpg with my Prius. I drive every possible combination of road conditions that you can image, it does take a little adjustment in your drive habits to achieve a higher mileage in the Prius but the change is small and is the way you should be driving any way.

Chrysler recalls Jeep models in China over brake flaws
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-01-09 20:18

BEIJING -- US auto maker Chrysler is recalling 1,371 Jeep brand vehicles sold in China due to brake problems, the nation's product quality watchdog said.

The affected vehicles were Grand Cherokee and Commander models made between January 31, 2005, and July 12, 2007, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement on its website.
All the vehicles, which had been imported, had problems with their electronic brake control system. In addition, 57 of the units, made between June 11 and July 11 last year, were also found to have flaws in the front brake calipers due to unqualified materials used in their production.

Both problems could increase the vehicles' stopping distance and affect driving safety, it said.

Chrysler Group China Sales Ltd. planned to notify the owners of the vehicles and would make the repairs free of charge.
