You're right Ash Hafei has been keeping a low profile ...not even showing any attention grabbing concept vehicles at the Beijing show this year.

But on the contrary, the company, though recenty bought out by Dong'an Auto Engine Co., Ltd., is alive and well. It has close ties with Pininfarina, Mitsubishi, and Wanxiang, the biggest auto parts company in China.

Like the other domestics its got its own problems. Here's what a New York Times reporter had to say after a visit to the factory last November.

"…..deliveries of steel are so irregular, because of shortages and the decrepit railroad system, that the factory must absorb the considerable cost of keeping steel for two months on hand, enough for 50,000 cars."

I like Hafei and I would buy one. Here's the Saibao V.
