Will SAIC export new Rover 75 back to UK?

The press statement seems to imply that the R75 will hit our shores ahead of 'other' models in 2008. So, by now there would be evidence of an engineering programme for the Euro model derivative. I also think that SAIC will have enough on its hands dealing with he growth in the Chinese market.

I'd like to see the R75 back here. It would be a big hit but I'm not so sure its coming.

Perhaps Nanjing will manufacture it, and bring it to the UK..just give them some time to grow and get their other projects out of the way

Do you think there might be a collaboration of some sort between Nanjing and SAIC - maybe Nanjing would be sub contracted by SAIC to assemble its Rover 75 alongside Nanjings MG ZT, at Longbridge!

The Nanjing MG7 (Rover 75) is to be the first car produced by the "Nanjing MG" company, they have already announced that it will be on sale in China and Europe, including UK and Spain, during the summer of 2007. The MG TF will return at about the same time.

I think there is no chance of collaboration but some of the components will be supplied from the same suppliers.

Welcome - yes the car in the picture would have been made in the UK but was on show at a Nanjing MG exhibition stand as well as many other places - Nanjing seem to be very proud of it!

There is "evidence of an engineering programme", it is being designed by Recardo 2010 in the UK and they say design is about complete. There should be some prototypes very soon.

For sure SAIC intends to export. They are doing engine work at emission levels that are required in Europe but won't be needed in china for another few years.
