If SAIC does start to produce a small car based on the Rover 25, they'd be best advised to produce it solely for the domestic Chinese market, as the car is really too old to be of any use to them in Europe. It might look relatively fresh and modern, but the basic design of the bodywork dates back to 1995's R3 Rover 200, and the chassis is a mish-mash of components from previous Rover cars, including the R8 Rover 200/400 (aka Honda Concerto) from 1989, with a rear suspension design lifted directly from the 1983 Austin Maestro.
