I bet that the demise of Chrysler will offer many opportunities for chinese car manufacturers. Cerberus axed eight models since buying Chysler. They introduced no new car since then. Now they have even stopped producing the PT Cruiser. So there are lots of proctions lines avaliable right now. As you may have mentioned, Zotye bought the rights to produce old Fiat models, since there was no need for these prodiction lines in Italy anymore. Maybe the financial crises will also seal Ssangyyongs fate. We´ll see...spharma24 said:will chines care makers be able to extend their market overseas as the big 3 are in trouble
That isn't entirely Cerberus' fault. As mentioned in another thread, everyone is down right now. IF they fixed the management (takeover) & labor (bankruptcy) problems, they could be profitable.Rally Red Lancer GTS said:The only thing is is the Chrysler/Dodge cars aren't selling in the U.S. as they are right now...why would you think they'd suddenly start selling owned as BYD or Chery? The market is down... maybe if they dropped prices remarkably and re-badged them and gave that a try?
That's why rebadging existing cars makes sense. They already pass crass/emission standards.spishak said:Currently Chinese Cars are failing the safety tests and are far from American Standards.
Only in April it will be real, now ther is the interest for buying 35% with a second tranche to 55%.Rally Red Lancer GTS said:And the latest news is Fiat is talking merger with Chrysler, that no doubt being the Cerberus-less Chrysler, Cerberus will sell it's interest in Chrysler in the merge. That's not official, though, but it's being bantered about on the car news lists today.
