Even though the wildly successful joint venture, Shanghai GM Wuling, only began in 2002 Wuling has been in the mini vehicle business since 1982, according to its website. Sedans were among the early mini vehicles but by the time the joint venture came about, it seems Wuling was producing mostly commercial type mini vehicles.
