As is well known that Xiamen Golden Dragon Van Co. Ltd. always keep a low profile; however, this enterprise continued to rank second in the bus industry in the just past 2005 with its sale volume of over 15,000 vehicles and a turnover of RMB 3,300 million yuan, an increase of 11.4% compared with that in the same period of last year and a new high in the history of the enterprise.

The reason why Xiamen Golden Dragon may accomplish such a splendor lies in its advanced R&D technique and its backbone elements of business and service, and especially in the powerful support from the mass of its clients. In view of this, journalists visited specially Capital Auto Stock Co., Ltd.¡ªone of the largest users of Golden Dragon Van in Beijing, and its Deputy General Manager accepted the interview and introduced to the journalists the use status of Golden Dragon's buses in Capital Auto Stock Co., Ltd.

Golden Dragon's buses became one of top brand vehicles of Capital Auto Group¡ªthe foundation for deepening bilateral relationship laid by 11years' sincere cooperation.

Based on the introduction given by Deputy General Manager, at present Capital Auto Group is in possession of about 9000 vehicles controlled by Business Vehicle Company, Tourist Vehicles Company and other four Municipal Taxi Companies. Golden Dragon¡¯s buses are concentrated in Tourist Vehicles Company. Now in Capital Auto Group there are 175 buses produced by Golden Dragon, which accounts for about 17% of the total buses and constitutes the largest brand of the vehicle under use.

Capital Auto Group is engaged in the four major businesses: automobile operation, automobile rent, sale and maintenance of automobiles, and wholesale and retail of oils

that's not entirely true. although we get our fair share of typhoons that blow in from the pacific ocean, we are just as affected as taiwan, w/ch lies to our north or the southeastern coast of china-fujian, hainan, etc. the philippines is an archipelago of 7,100 islands, & typhoons affect the top third of the archipelago. this area could be lashed by 120km. winds while the southernmost part would be basking in sunshine. nevertheless, chinese buses are at the forefront of china's introduction of 4-wheeled vehicles into the country, although scooters & motorbikes have been in the market for at least five years now.

Golden Dragon Bus to use Maxwell ultracapacitors

August 01, 2008

San Diego-based Maxwell Technologies (Nasdaq: MXWL) made a deal to supply its Boostcap ultracapacitors to China's Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus. Golden Dragon is producing diesel-electric hybrid buses for the Hangzhou Public Transport Group.

Maxwell said today that it has completed delivery of 720 of its 48-volt multi-cell ultracapacitor modules to Golden Dragon for installation into 45 hybrid buses. Financial terms of the supply contract were not disclosed.

"Golden Dragon has developed an innovative hybrid drive system for cleaner, more efficient, transit buses and other commercial vehicles," said David Schramm, president and CEO of Maxwell.

"This program has given us a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate the performance and reliability of our products and Maxwell's capabilities as a supplier to an industry leader in one of the world's most dynamic and fastest growing markets."

Golden Dragon delivered its first prototype hybrid bus with an ultracapacitor-based energy storage system to the Public Transport Group in July 2007 for a comparison with other hybrid drive systems under actual operating conditions.

"Ultracapacitors' high braking energy recuperation efficiency and long operational life make them an ideal energy storage choice for fuel-efficient, low-emission hybrid transit vehicles," said George Dong, Golden Dragon's hybrid bus program engineer.

"Maxwell's products performed very well during the evaluation period, and the 48-volt Boostcap module gives us a versatile building block for easy integration into various high-voltage configurations for heavy vehicles."

Maxwell said it expects heavy vehicle applications to continue to be a key driver for its global ultracapacitor sales growth.
