Article about upcoming Haima H1 at China Car Times:

The QQ, or the QQ3 when it first came out was hailed as a car for the Chinese people. It was a taste of things to come, for two reasons, firstly the QQ was an exact clone of the Chevrolet Spark, 2) It was the cheapest car ever made at the time in China, basically a car that any office worker could afford to buy with some frugal living.

Chinas upcoming car maker, Haima, released the Haima 3 compact last year, and it looks rather good. Haima are intent on becoming a bigger player in the Chinese market place, and will release a range of cars over the next few years. Their latest offering, unveiled in the below shots for the first time, is Haimas H1 - the mini car that is set to rival Chery QQ!

Last week, we showed pictures of a camouflaged Haimai H1, we didn’t know what it was, neither did the Chinese motoring press, but Erik gladly told us what it was in the comments box! The H1 is expected to come with a 1.1 engine mated to a 5 speed manual gear box. The tiny H1 measures (LxWxH) 3350mm x 1495 x 1485. The price: 30, to 40,000rmb, want one? Wait until the end of 2008, and it will be on the market.

Haima’s QQ Fighter undergoing testing.

1 July 2009, China Car Times

The QQ3 is a best selling car in China, despite its age (it was launched in 2002) it has continued to sell well into 2009 with virtually no exterior updates. The QQ3 sold a combined 9832 cars in May, its nearest rival, the BYD F0 sold 7224 units in May, the QQ is clearly unstoppable.

Haima have realized that the best way to compete with the QQ is to do exactly what Chery did with the Chevrolet Spark - copy it.

The side profile of the Haima 1 is virtually the same as the Chery QQ, the only difference being the front end where the Haima 1 takes on quad headlamp style lights. Previously this car was known as the Haima M1, but it seems that it has been given the new moniker of Haima 1 for production.

Re: Haima M1 (Me and MPe)

Small article from China Car Times:
The Toyota Aygo has had some serious milage in China, although never under Toyota badging. BYD took a shine to it, Geely took a shine to various parts of it for their Panda, and also JAC liked it too.

The Prince, or rather the 王子 (Wang Zi), will be put on sale early 2010 according to Haima. The Prince measures (LxWxH) 3590*1540*1486mm, and is powered by a 1.0L engine producing 83Nm at 3000rpm, and around 65bhp. The engine is small, the car is small, and is probably going to be a big seller in second and third tier cities when it goes on sale.
