There is another subsidiary of Dongfeng called Zhengzhou Light Automobile Factory. I don't know much about that company. It seems it's just one of many Chinese SUV producers. The vehicles bear Dongfeng's logo.
These upper two pickups are not Nissan related vehicles, but the all too familiar Isuzu-based bodies. Perched on Nissan chassis perhaps?

Zhengzhou Light Automobile Works is sold to Haima in March 2007. Haima plans to build a new SUV model here. Present status of the Dongfeng brand pickup and suv models is unknown.
Dragin, the pickup platform is the old Isuzu-copy, in use by many Chinese suv/pickup manufacturers.

Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile (ZNA) took part in the 2008 Beijing auto show (April 20-28) along with Nissan Motor Co., and the question whether the ZNA will produce the Nissan concept car NV200 has attracted much media attention.

ZNA's chairman Zhu Fushou said that the Nissan venture will launch a model based on the NV200 in 2009 to cement the dual-brand LCV (light commercial vehicles) strategy in the partnership between Nissan and Dongfeng.

In September 2007, the Nissan Yumsun MPV and Dongfeng Oting SVU, both produced by ZNA, were launched together and made ZNA a major manufacturer of light commercial vehicles of Nissan and Dongfeng brands. With the release of Nissan's F91A light truck and X11M crossover MPV, and Dongfeng's C16A MPV in 2009, the product portfolio of ZNA will be further expanded.

As Nissan's most important China-based facility making commercial vehicles, ZNA has 51% stake of the venture, Dongfeng 28.651%, and Nissan 20.349%. Each of the three partners has their strong resources backing, and its majority shareholding will guarantee the rapid and healthy growth of ZNA in the auto industry.

The joint venture's current annual capacity of 60,000 vehicles will be boosted to 86,000 units next year. The second facility to be constructed soon will give ZNA an expected annual capacity of over 200,000 vehicles. The company will make the products of Nissan and Dongfeng on a 50-50 basis. MPVs and SUVs priced below 150,000 yuan ($2,150) will be likely manufactured by Zhengzhou Nissan.

Zhengzhou Nissan to use Nissan sales network for export.

May 22, 2008 - Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Nissan Motor Co.'s commercial vehicle venture in China, plans to export its vehicles through Nissan's global LCV (light commercial vehicles) sales network. Therefore, the sales of the Nissan-branded vehicles will not be conducted by Zhengzhou Nissan, which will be responsible only for the sales of Dongfeng-branded vehicles.

As scheduled, the exports by Zhengzhou Nissan will make up about 60% of its all sales by 2010, and its exports will reach more than 100 countries, from the current 20 or so. This means that a powerful sales network will play a key role in boosting the joint venture carmaker's export business.

To support and accelerate its rapid export growth, Zhengzhou Nissan needs a complete marketing network that integrates the sales and after-sales services, and this is hard to achieve by the Chinese partner itself in the short term. Nissan Motor has a large sales network covering almost every country of the world.

Zhengzhou Nissan will make both Dongfeng and Nissan commercial vehicles mainly for export in the future, and the two brands will have different sales networks: vehicles of the Nissan brand will be sold through Nissan's global LCV sales network, and the sales of Dongfeng vehicles will be done by Zhengzhou Nissan.

So does this mean that the LCV Sales Network (for export) will be based in Xiangfan rather than Zhengzhou? That would make sense, seeing that Xiangfan was Dongfeng's original light truck facility.

Martin, I believe that gasgoo's "28.651%" figure for Dongfeng's stake in "ZNA" is too low. I heard that Dongfeng upped its stake to 51% in 2004.

Zhengzhou Nissan breaks ground for new plant.

September 29, 2008 - Zhengzhou Nissan Co., Ltd. (ZNA) on September 29 hosted the ground breaking ceremony for its light commercial vehicle (LCV) plant in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China, expected to begin operations late 2010.

According to Nissan, the facility will have an annual production capacity of more than 120,000 units. This new facility will be ZNA's second LCV plant. By adding this new capacity, the total capacity of ZNA plants will reach about 200,000 units per year by 2010.

ZNA will produce vehicles under both the Nissan and Dongfeng brands at the new plant. The first Nissan model to be produced at the new plant will be a multi-functional vehicle to meet both business and personal use customers. As a member of Nissan's global production network, ZNA also will study the feasibility of exporting this model.

Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (DFL), ZNA's parent company, announced that the LCV business would be strengthened in PLAN 13, the mid-term business plan for Nissan in China. DFL has two brand strategies in the LCV business. The Nissan brand serves the premium LCV segment, while Dongfeng-branded vehicles are marketed in the more competitive automotive segment. DFL will launch more than five new LCV models and increase the number of dealerships to 630 by 2012.

At chinamobil.ru I found some more pictures of Dongfeng Rich (this is how the vehicle is named). What I find very interesting on this pictures is a fact that the vehicle has the same nose as Nissan ZN6492 but wears Dongfeng's logo. As the car has no back glass I guess this s a cargo version.
