Despite the uncertainties about the future of trade between the U.S. and China, Haah Automotive Holdings of California, and Zotye, have formed Zotye USA, for the purpose of distribution there.
Some may remember Haah Auto’s chairman, Duke Hale. Hale, a former Mazda and Lotus executive, was appointed the chief executive of Nanjing Auto’s, planned, but never materialized, MG project in Oklahoma back in 2006.
The Haah-Zotye plan aims to make the T600 available in the U.S. by 2020, but like Zotye’s joint venture with Ford, progress may be slowed by the vagaries of the current market.

The formation of a new sales and distribution company in the United States for the Chinese auto brand Zotye Automobile was announced by Duke Hale, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HAAH Automotive Holdings and Wangsheng Zhu, Chairman of Zotye Automobile International Co. The new company will be known as Zotye USA and headquartered in Lake Forest, California.
The company’s first U.S. product will be an SUV with engineering, development, and homologation work currently underway. Sales to retail customers in the U.S. are expected to begin in 2020."
