Re: Zotye to produce old Fiat Palio
In 2004 Automotive News Europe observed:
"Fiat's operations in China have suffered because the Italian automaker's lineup lacks models that appeal to Chinese buyers."
With its Nanjing partner, its best year selling these models may have been 2005 when it sold 36,160 units.
But Zotye is different, its a young company with a lot of spirit and it did a great job with its Terios-based mini SUV. Maybe it will do an equally good job at marketing these clean, functional looking models. Yes, Fiat turned up its nose at this little player Zotye, choosing instead to chase after Guangxi as a partner, but going forward it may have some regrets, and in the end find itself still flat in China.
